This Federal Payment Offers Up to $11,604 Annually – And It’s Not Social Security

A significant payment update is set to roll out in 2025, featuring a 2.5% Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) increase.

While the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program is separate from Social Security funding, eligible individuals can begin their SSI application online via the Administration’s website here or by scheduling an appointment at one of its local offices.

It’s important to note that simply having no income or resources won’t qualify you for these benefits.

Eligibility Requirements for SSI Payments

To receive SSI payments, you must meet certain conditions beyond financial need. The Social Security Administration (SSA) only grants approval if you have a recognized disability (or are legally blind) or if you are 65 years of age or older.

Without filing the necessary application, you could miss out on receiving up to $11,604 annually in benefits from the federal government.

Annual Maximum for SSI Payments: Up to $11,604

Due to the COLA increase scheduled for 2025, both Social Security and Supplemental Security Income payments will see a boost. This adjustment aims to help beneficiaries better manage rising inflation and living costs.

For those on SSI, the new maximum monthly payment will rise to $967 in 2025, up from $943 in 2024. This means an additional $24 per month in benefits. On an annual basis, the maximum payout for 2024 stands at $11,321.49, so the increase will result in an extra $283 per year for qualified recipients.

2024$943$11,321.493.2%
2025$967$11,6042.5%

When Will SSI Payments Reflect the Increase?

Although the COLA adjustment is officially for 2025, SSI recipients will see the increase before the end of 2024. The SSA has confirmed that SSI beneficiaries will receive their enhanced payments on December 31, 2024—right before the new year begins.

This early distribution means that approximately 7.5 million Americans receiving SSI will benefit from the increase on New Year’s Eve.

On the other hand, recipients of Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) or retirement benefits will begin seeing their COLA adjustments from January 3, 2025.
